To help in the natural treatment and recovery of your pet dog, you can use just a few of the hundreds of available homeopathic remedies and herbs available in the market, or even in your home pantry and herbal garden (if you have one).

DIARRHEA

Inflamed intestines can benefit from Slippery Elm which is a nutritive herb known for its ability to sooth and heal. Depending on the size of your pet dog, you can give 1 to 3 capsules to be taken twice daily. You can prepare it as a tea and mix it in a small amount of broth.

If your dog accidentally ingested decayed foods or toxins, it may suffer diarrhea with very stinky, bloody and dark stool. Arsenicum can be a very good solution to this problem. For watery stool, you can make use of pulsatilla as the remedy.

FLEAS & ITCHING

There are flea-repelling properties found in yellow dock, wormwood, rue, rosemary, fennel and eucalyptus. Equal amounts of these herbs should be mixed together and sprinkled over your pet’s coat. Be certain to avoid getting the mixture into their mouth, nose, inner ear and eyes. You have to work it through down to your pet’s skin.

Flea bites may result in hot spots. A little amount of diluted tea tree essential oil can be rubbed onto the affected skin to prevent your dog from licking that area and worsening the situation. You have to be very careful in using this on small dogs.

CUTS

Goldenseal wash can be used to clean the wounds and fresh aloe can be applied like an ointment after.

CARSICKNESS

Before going anywhere, a few drops of extract from ginger root may be given to your dog in order to settle its tummy. Nausea can also be remedied by using peppermint essential oil.

STRESS & ANXIETY

A dose of Rescue Remedy, prepared from a mixture of Chamomile, Valerian and Oats, can be used on your pet if it is stressed and anxious. A small amount of lavender essential can also be rubbed around their muzzle while spraying a little bit on their bed.

Dogs can get restless during a thunderstorm. A small dose of Melatonin would surely help.

AFTER SURGERY

You can make use of Arnica to relieve minor pain, speed up the healing process and minimize bruising. Hypericum can also be used to promote healing, relieve pain and prevent infection. There are other homeopathic remedies that could help ease the discomfort of your dog. Symphytum can be used to mend bones, Ledum to heal ligaments and tendons, Bellis for lingering pain and Phosphorous to prevent bleeding.
